What we have learnt

This term Key Stage Two have been working on Hockey in one of their PE lessons.

We have looked at how to hold the stick correctly, how to dribble in small areas, how to dribble over a longer distance and most recently how to pass the ball using the push pass.

In PE during November and December we worked on: - 

Reception - Throwing, Catching, Sending and Receiving:  Pupils travel with, send and receive a ball and other equipment in different ways and develop these skills for simple, competitive net, striking/fielding and invasion type games that they and others have made, using simple tactics for attacking and defending.

Key Stage Two - Gymnastics and Invasion Games (Quicksticks Hockey) 

Gymnastics

In Year 3 and 4 pupils create and perform fluent sequences on the floor and using apparatus, and include variations in level, speed and direction in their sequences. Pupils will be able to show that they can manage their bodies in a variety of different positions whilst being under control.

In Year 5 and 6 pupils will create and perform fluent sequences on the floor and include variations in level, speed and direction in their sequences. Pupils will be able to work with a partner showing unison and canon in their routine. All gymnastic moves will be performed with good body tension and under control.

Invasion Games

In Years 3 and 4 pupils will play small sided and competitive versions of the game and work with others to organise and keep games going. They use skills and tactics and apply basic principles for attacking and defending.

In Years 5 and 6 pupils will play small sided and modified competitive invasion games, learning the rules of Netball and Football. They use the skills and tactics learnt and will apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending.
