Parental Questionnaire

The 2016 questionare results have now been analysed.The questionnaire was sent out in October 2016 and we had over 187 repiles from our parents. 

Results- October 2016

The questionnaire was conducted in October 2016 on the children return to school in Autumn 1 to find out parents, or carers' views on the different aspects of their children's learning and their opinion on the current direction of the school.

  1. 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that their child was safe at St Mary’s school
  2. 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed felt their children have made good progress so far this year
  3. 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that the children’s needs were being met
  4. 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that their child is well looked after with  1 % at don’t know
  5. 98% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that their children are being taught well at St Marys with the other 2 % undecided.
  6. 100% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that behaviour is consistently  good at St Marys
  7. 97% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that lessons are disrupted by bad behaviour with 3% as don’t know.
  8.  96% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that bullying (including name calling, cyber bullying, racist and homophobic) is dealt with effectively. 4 % were unsure and did not know  
  9. 100% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that St Marys helps to support each child’s development.
  10. 96% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that issues are dealt with and concerns are well received and reacted on. With 4 % not knowing.
  11. 98% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that they are kept well informed by the school
  12. 100% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that they would recommend St Marys to another parent.

Here are some of the comments we received this year.

  • The HT has really helped our family settle quickly to the area and we love the family approach the school has.
  • I am so impressed with the school and all the pastoral team. My grandson has had a very bad year in other schools but has really settled quickly into St Marys and now loves coming into school.
  • My two girls continue to love the school and teachers and particularly all the sport and Art that happens .Thank you to all the staff.
  • I am really pleased with the progress my son is making with his reading and phonics .The reception teachers are lovely and really helpful.
  • Both my children are learning well at the school at the moment
  • Lauren loves the get active after school sports club it gives her chance to try different sports.
  • Staff are always helpful and have ensured my grandson has settled quickly and  always has someone to listen or help.
  • My son loves Barbara, the new counsellor .
  • My son loves coming to school and has made lots of friends

 

There are some things some parents believe we need to do better in and improve on

  • Better communication between staff and parents on the door in the morning
  • Parking outside school is dangerous at the start of the school day and end of the school day
  • Working parents should be allowed to drop children off from 8am into breakfast club 
  • Children’s teachers should produce a weekly report of progress.

The 2015 questionnaire was conducted to a significant majority of parents (234) on 17th November 2015 parents' evenings, to find out parents, or carers' views on the different aspects of their children's learning and their opinion on the current direction of the school.

  • 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that their child was safe at St Mary’s school
  • 100% of parents strongly agreed or agreed felt their children have made good progress so far this year
  • 98% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that the children’s needs were being met
  • 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that their child is well looked after with  1 % at don’t know
  • 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that their children are being taught well at St Marys
  • 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that behaviour is consistently  good at St Marys
  • 98% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that lessons are disrupted by bad behaviour with 2% as don’t know.
  •  99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that bullying (including name calling, cyber bullying, racist and homophobic) is dealt with effectively. There was 1 questionnaire returned where they felt this was not the case.
  • 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that St Marys helps to support each child’s development.
  • 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that issues are dealt with and concerns are well received and reacted on.
  •  100% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that they are kept well informed by the school
  • 99% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that they would recommend St Marys to another parent.

All but two questionnaires included positive parental comments comment’s about our school this year. Here are some I would like to share with you.

  • We are really pleased with the new changes this year. My daughter now loves coming to school
  • I am so impressed with the school as so many things have changed. My children now value their studies more than anything else.
  • I cannot fault this school at all.10 Stars to you.
  • She has improved so much this year .Thank you
  • I am really pleased with the progress my daughter is making.
  • He loves the green reading It makes him want to read and makes it fun.
  • They both really love the school I am so glad I brought them here.

There are some things some parents believe we need to do better in and improve on

  • too much focus  on the bad behaviour and  use of crosses
  • all children in correct uniform
  • every child given after school football opportunities
