We are proud to announce we have achieved the School Games Mark Award for the 2016/17 academic year. This takes our total to 4 golds in 4 years of applying.
The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their com- mitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
This year we have included new sports to our calendar in Badminton, Table Tennis, Dance, Orienteering and Swimming as well as 10 others sports we compete in each year.
With a total of 86% of our Key Stage 2 Children competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
As we have achieved the Gold Award for the 4th Year running we are now eligible to apply for the brand new PLATINUM Award.
In October we can put forward our case study and hopefully be the first school in Rochdale to achieve this Award.
